Nag Tibba means Nag ( A large snake) and Tibba means Hill. The local villagers offer their prayers in the Nag Devta temple for the protection of their cattle. The Nag Tibba range comes among the three ranges The Dhauladhar Range & The Pir Panjal Range. The trek is a 10 km trek from Pantwari basecamps, also counted as the easiest treks in India. The trek first takes us to the Nag Devta temple which is located at the top and then to the lush green beauty of pine forests. You will also get a chance to explore the terraced farms and meet the local people.
From the top of the Nag Tibba Hill, you will experience an amazing 100-degree view of the Bandarpooch, Swargarohini, Srikanth, Black Peak in the snow-capped Himalayan Ranges. On the other side, you will see the Kedarkantha Peak in the north, doon valley and snow peaks of Changbhang. This place also has rich biodiversity – Flora & Fauna. During the trek towards Nag Tibba, you will witness the goat village in between. Pantwari village – A village in the Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand. Pantwari village is famous for its basecamps. Here you will see birds of different species, colorful valley, and deodar, oak forests. The nearest railway station is in Dehradun which is 90km away from Pantwari. You can reach here by taking a taxi or direct bus from Dehradun.
A motor route is also available to Pantwari ( Mussorie – kempty falls – Nainbagh- Pantwari).
The best time to do Nag Tibba Trek totally depends on the trekker as summers are pleasant and winters are chilly. Camping during spring & summer is a must-do activity. The best time to visit is from April to June and In winter, October to December. Camping will add charm to the place. Beautiful sunrises in the morning and starry nights in the evening.
Mussorie is the nearest hill station. You can visit places like Kempty Falls, Lal Tibba Scenic Point, Mussorie Lake, Gun Hill Point, and a lot more places.
